Private bedroom and ensuite bathroom in Aptos. 5 min to beach & 10 min to redwoods. Enjoy lofted ceilings and great work space in our comfortable home. Full access to our large kitchen. 15-20 minute drive from Santa Cruz. 35 min to Monterey. PLEASE NOTE! Parking is at the top of a somewhat steep 20 ft driveway that you will need to walk down. There is some background freeway noise when outdoors. This is a room inside of our house. No private entrance.

We stopped renting our guest room on Airbnb during the pandemic and we're very excited to open our home to you again! We love meeting people from all over the world and can't wait to host you! We love the Santa Cruz area and love giving people lots of local, insider tips!

Here are some important things to note about our property:

1. We can only accommodate parking for compact to mid-size cars and SUV’s.

2. Parking is at the top of a somewhat steep 20 ft driveway that you will need to walk down.

3. We have animals in the house: one dog and two cats. If you have pet dander allergies, our house is not the right fit for you.

4. You will enter this room via our front door entrance. It does not have a private entrance. This means that you will be walking through shared living space to get to your room: shared kitchen and living room. Our bedrooms are downstairs directly under your room. Guests will not have access to our downstairs areas.

5. The freeway is some distance below our house. You will not see the freeway but will have some road noise (i.e. Sirens, etc). This is usually non-obtrusive as we have updated, double pained windows throughout the house that filter out most of the road noise. Please note that you will hear some road sounds in the background when enjoying outdoor spaces. If you sleep with windows open, you may hear some road noise in the distance.

6. Our street is extremely quiet and quaint and somewhat rustic. There are no sidewalks nor streetlights. The street is also very narrow with limited parking which is why we can only accommodate one car.

7. We often rent out this room while we are traveling. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that we will be present to greet you upon arrival nor during your stay.

We live in the foothills leading up from the coast in Aptos, Ca. Beautiful views of the bay and hiking trails are just a short walk from our front door. We are close to many local highlights: beach is very close (about 5 -10 min car ride, 30 min walk or 15 min bike ride), redwoods (10 minute drive), Seascape resort (5 min drive), Santa Cruz wharf (25 min drive), Cabrillo college (10 min drive), UC Santa Cruz (30 min drive), Monterey Bay Aquarium (35 min drive), Carmel/Pebble Beach (1 hr drive), Big Sur ( 1.25 hr drive), San Francisco (2 hr drive).

We have a binder in the room with lots of local tips and attractions. We are also more than happy to give you local insight on restaurants and activities.

We are a young family who enjoys the outdoors. We work during the week and are often out and about during the weekend enjoying the Santa Cruz area.

Our house is set on a hill with a reverse floor plan. Open beam and lofted ceilings with lots of natural light and views of the trees. Many friends who come to visit comment that we live in a treehouse because we are surrounded by treetops and lots of natural surroundings.

You have full access to our large kitchen with a massive central island and granite countertops. Guests are welcome to use our kitchen and common living areas. Your room is on the top floor in close proximity to common living areas (kitchen, dining, den). We have two decks available for use as well. Our bedrooms are downstairs so you'll have lots of privacy at night.

We are happy to lend you beach towels, beach chairs, and beach toys. Boogie board and foam topped surfboard also available for use upon request. Please arrange at time of booking so that we can make these things available to you.

We are a family friendly house. Our room has space for two adults but (for additional charge) we can squeeze in a small child or two who are willing to sleep on an aero bed or pack and play all of which we are happy to provide for use.

Some things to note about our property:

We have a 9 yr old son, a 5 yr old very playful black lab and 2 cats. The small human and animals will stay out of your room, but are happy to interact with you as much or as little as you wish.

Please also note that we do not allow smoking anywhere on our property, neither inside nor outside the house. This includes marijuana and cigarette smoke.

We will interact as much as you'd like. We're often gone during the week and are out and about in the mornings on the weekends. We are often home in the evenings.

Beaches, redwoods, Seascape golf course, Santa Cruz wharf and downtown, Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur. 2 hr drive to San Francisco.

You have a designated parking spot on our street. Please only park in the designated space at the top of our driveway. Parking is very limited and neighbors will grumble if you park in front of another house besides ours. For this reason, we can only accommodate one car.

We do not recommend public transportation. There is a bus line within walking distance.

Unfortunately, we are not handicap accesible. You will need to walk down a fairly steep driveway and stairs to get to our house.
